Two people were injured yesterday afternoon after a fire erupted in a two-story house in the Cottage City section of the County.
Just before 4 p.m. Tuesday July 6, 2010 firefighters from Bunker Hill, Bladensburg, Hyattsville and other near-by companies were dispatched to the 3800 block of 40th Avenue for a reported house on fire.
First arriving units reported fire showing from the first floor of the dwelling with fire extending to the top floor.
Firefighters enter the burning house and with a very aggressive attack, they were able to bring the fire under control within 15 minutes with some extension to the upper floors.
One firefighter was injured battling the fire he was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries along with the homeowner who also suffered minor injuries.
With tempters over 100 degrees the County's bus ambulance was dispatched to the scene to assist with rehab of firefighters.
The cause of the fire is under investigation
