Eight People Displaced After Townhouse Fire in Oxon Hill Run

Shortly after midnight, Wednesday July 21, 2010, units from Silver Hill, Oxon Hill, Ritchie and other surrounding departments were alerted for a reported house fire in the 2200 block of Anvil Lane in the Oxon Hill Run section of the county.

 

First arriving Engine 829 reported heavy fire showing from all floors of a two-story townhouse with all of the residents out of the dwelling.

 

Firefighters enter the townhouse and discovered the stairs to the top floor where completely burned out, firefighters had to use ground ladders from the inside and outside too reach the top floor of the dwelling.

 

With heavy fire conditions on the first and second floor firefighters mounted a very aggressive attack on the fire and were able to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes with some minor extension to the attic area of the house.

 

A total of eight people are displaced as a result of the fire and there were firefighters who suffered minor burns to their upper body, they were treated on the scene.

 

The cause of the fire is under investigation
