Shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday July 24, 2010 units from Chillum Station 844, Hyattsville, and Chillum Adelphi Station 834 along with other near-by departments were dispatched to the 6800 block of Chillum Manor Drive for a reported house fire.
First arriving units reported smoke and fire showing from the first floor of a two-story dwelling with fire extending to the top floor.
With fire extending to the top floor and attic area of the dwelling, firefighters mounted a very aggressive attack on the fire and were able to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes
One firefighter was injured battling fire; he was transported to the Burn unit at MedStar for a minor electoral shock.
This is the third working fire in a week in the Chillum area since Engine 844 was placed back in service on Sunday July 18, 2010.
