One person is dead and a second person is in serious condition after a tree came down on a mini van on Rhode Island Ave near Odessa Road in College Park yesterday afternoon as powerful storms came through Prince George's County,

Chief 11 Michael Burrier from Branchville Fire Department was first on the scene and reported a very large tree on top of a mini van with two females trapped, and requested a second rescue squad brining Rescue Squad 22 and  to the scene to assist Rescue Squad 14

Firefighters worked for over an hour to free the trapped victims, the crew from Squad 14 and 22 used air bags and cribbing to lift the tree from the van before the van could be pulled away from the tree.

After the tree was lifted from the van paramedics quickly enter the van to provide aid to the two people trapped, once in the van paramedics determined a woman in her 60's was dead, the second victim in her 40's was removed from the van and transported to a local trauma center in serious condition stated Mark Brady Public Information Officer for PG Fire.
