Three firefighters were injured battling a house fire in the Oxon Hill area of the county.
Just after 3 pm Wednesday, July 28, 2010 firefighters from Oxon Hill, Silver Hill, District Heights and other near by companies were dispatched to the 5600 block of Miles Drive in the Forest Heights subdivision of Oxon Hill for a reported house fire.
First arriving units reported smoke and fire showing from a 1 1/2 story Cape Cod, single family dwelling with all residents out of the house
Firefighters enter the dwelling and located a fire on the first floor with fire extending to the top floor of the house; with a very aggressive attack they were able to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes.
. No civilian injuries were reported, however, two firefighters were transported to the Burn Unit with minor burns and one firefighter went to the hospital suffering from exhaustion.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and fire loss is estimated at $200,000. Seven adults and three children are displaced as a result of the fire.
